The team at Encircle Community Services has issued an urgent call for non-perishable food donations for the needy after a spike in demand.
“We are currently seeking urgent donations for the Community Pantry at all our neighbourhood centres (Lawnton, Kallangur and Redcliffe) as we’re running extremely low on tinned and packaged food items,” a spokeswoman says.
“Pantry items assist locals in need, especially homeless people and families doing it tough.
“We have seen a large increase in those needing food support over the past few months and stock is almost out in every location.”
Here is a list of the items needed:
- Canned or packaged soup
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruit
- Pasta sauce
- Dried pasta or noodles
- Rice
- Canned protein eg. Tuna, salmon, chicken
- Weet Bix/breakfast cereal
- Long life milk
Items can be dropped off at the Lawnton, Kallangur and Redcliffe neighbourhood centres during opening hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-3pm).
