Elexon Mining from Brendale has taken out one of the top awards at the 2022 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards after impressing the judges with its outstanding business performance.

The Brendale business renowned for world-first technology in the mining sector was recognised for its efforts and exporting capabilities at region’s top business awards.

The awards night, which was held at the Eatons Hill Hotel on Friday, October 21, celebrated and recognised business excellence and innovation across the region.

A panel of 44 judges were tasked with choosing winners in each of the categories, with Elexon Mining coming out on top in the Solar Bollard Lighting Award for Exporting Excellence category.

Speaking on the night, Elexon Group of Companies Directing Manager Pieter Kuiper said: “we are the only ones in the world that have achieved what we have been able to achieve”.

“We can make electronic products that go into the ground and be 60cm away from the explosives that are shattering rock, one kilometre under the ground, and our products survive that and communicate wirelessly through the ground and tell people what is going on,” Peter said.

About Elexon Mining

Elexon Mining is a world leader in wireless in-ground geotechnical monitoring systems for open pit, tailings dam and underground mines.

Its technology has the capability to provide real-time insight into ground movements, cave monitoring and ore flow back to workers above ground, all of which improves safety, efficiency and resource conversion.

Since forming in 2006, Elexon Mining has worked with a number of industry leaders on a global scale, including Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Chevron, CRC Mining, CSIRO Chile, the University of Chile and Newcrest, just to name a few.

In addition, it also has clients across Australia and the world including mines in Canada, Indonesia, Sweden and the United States of America.

in 2009, Elexon released its first mining product, the Smart Marker system – a blast-proof wireless monitoring system capable of communicating through rock – which was a world first at the time. The Smart Marker led to the development of Geo4Sight thanks to a partnership with one of its customers – Rio Tinto.

It is this groundbreaking work and technology that saw Elexon Mining be named as the winner in Solar Bollard Lighting Award for Exporting Excellence at the 2022 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards on Friday, October 21.

This award recognised Elexon Mining as a business in the Moreton Bay Region that has exemplified excellence in exporting and outstanding performance in building trade between Moreton Bay and global export markets.

Speaking at the awards, Directing Manager at Elexon Group of Companies Pieter Kuiper said the win was a great recognition for his team and all the hard work they do in the industry.
