Work starts on new multi-million dollar shopping centre

The first sod has been officially turned on a new multi-million-dollar shopping centre development in Bellmere.

When finished there will be almost 5300sq m of retail space with a Woolworths Supermarket, 15 tenancies including a pharmacy, cafe and alfresco dining, a children’s playground and greenery and close to 250 car spaces.

Bellmere Woolworths, being built at 110 Bellmere Rd, will bring 80 jobs during construction and around 175 jobs when it opens in mid-2023.

To mark the official start a ceremonial sod turning was held on Friday with Mayor Peter Flannery, State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan and Councillor Adam Hain in attendance.

Woolworths was represented by State Development Manager Chris Sheehan and Regional Development Manager Savanah Powell.

“We understand the key role shopping and community hubs can play as people seek places to come together, shop, connect and interact,” Mr Sheehan said.

“We’re confident we can deliver a high quality and convenient shopping destination that will meet the needs of the growing and evolving Bellmere community.”

Bellmere Woolworths is targeting a 4-Star Green Star development rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, with solar panels and rainwater detention and re-use.

Woolworths will also do road upgrades by converting a major roundabout into an intersection and widening to four lanes.
