Work starts on Samford Parklands Village Green Park upgrade

Moreton Bay City Council has officially broken ground on the Samford Parklands Village Green Park upgrade, marking the start of construction of a new community space.

Incorporating community feedback and best-practice design principles, the upgrade will deliver a vibrant hub for events, recreation and social connection.

It will include open green space for gatherings, shaded picnic shelters, a play space for children, and accessible walking paths with stunning valley views.

Mayor Peter Flannery says the project is more than just a park upgrade.

“It’s about creating a space where people can come together, celebrate and enjoy the incredible lifestyle our city offers,” he says.

“The Village Green will feature open lawns for gatherings and events, barbecue and picnic facilities, play equipment, and landscaped gardens with shade trees. It will be the beating heart of Samford for generations to come.”

Federal Member for Dickson Ali France says the government is proud to support projects that strengthen community connections.

“Samford is stunning, and the Samford Parklands Village Green Park upgrade will make it an even better place to bring your family to enjoy the outdoors,” Ms France says.

“The Albanese Labor Government is investing $2.2 million through our Thriving Suburbs Program to make Samford Parklands a space for everyone to appreciate.”

Councillor Ellie Smith (Div 11) says the project reflects the community’s vision for a welcoming and inclusive space.

“Samford Parklands is already a much-loved destination, and this new Village Green will make it even better,” Cr Smith said.

"It’s designed for everyone from families, visitors, and locals to relax, play, and connect within the absolutely stunning backdrop of Samford.”

The $4.4 million project is jointly funded by Moreton Bay City Council and the Federal Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program.

Construction expected to be completed by late 2026.
