Work to start on new pavilion

The contract to build Suttons Beach Pavilion has been awarded and construction is set to start early next year.

Work will take around 18 months on a new pavilion, landscaping, public changing rooms, new shade structures and upgraded car park.

There will also be new food and beverage outlets at the site by the latter half of 2027, subject to a separate tender process that is ongoing.

“We can’t wait to see work start at the site, bringing us a step closer to the fantastic waterfront facilities envisaged for Suttons Beach,” Mayor Peter Flannery says.

“Locals and visitors will be able to enjoy a vibrant hospitality scene and experience the beautiful peninsula beach with ample shade and amenities in our new landscaped grounds.

"We’re particularly pleased to add one of our accessible Changing Places facilities so everyone can enjoy our beaches.”

Suttons Beach Pavilion Preservation Group President Jodie Starr says: “This is a major milestone towards the community being able to enjoy having a new pavilion.

“We have been without facilities at this iconic location for a long time and look forward to the construction of a worthy replacement.”

Council has secured a $12.1 million investment from the SEQ City Deal Liveability Fund for the development.

Federal Member for Petrie Emma Comer says the project will be a boon for tourism and economic activity on the Redcliffe Peninsula for years to come.

“We all have so many great memories of this beautiful foreshore area and soon families will be able to make their own new memories with the new Pavilion as well," she says.

State Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley says Suttons Beach is a “place of wonderful history, connection and beauty and we want it to continue to be that for generations to come”.

Cr Karl Winchester (Div 6) adds: “This one has taken some planning, so it’s great news for the community it’s now come to fruition and work is about to start".
