Work to start on roundabout upgrade

Design work is complete on a $650,000 pedestrian safety upgrade at Redcliffe’s Anzac Ave and Marine Pde roundabout.

The busy intersection is a key connector to the Redcliffe foreshore and State Member for Redcliffe Yvette D’Ath says safety improvements will be welcomed by locals and visitors.

“Currently, pedestrians need to cross multiple lanes of traffic on Anzac Avenue, which isn't ideal for active travel choices,” Ms D’Ath says.

“New, raised, pedestrian crossings on all four legs will help see people navigate the roundabout safely.

“The crossing distances will also be shortened, making it easier than ever to get across safely.”

Ms D’Ath says the roundabout will be reconfigured, which will require removal of some parking.

“Work is expected to start in the first half of next year (2023), and I look forward to seeing them completed.

“I’m committed to delivering important upgrades like this one for our community. It’s not just people who drive who need to use the road safely, it’s people who walk and ride bikes too.”

The project will be funded by the State Government's Targeted Road Safety Program, through the Camera Detected Offence Program.
