Your chance to meet Guide Dog pups at open day

Guide Dogs Queensland is throwing open its doors on Saturday to give people the chance to meet the pups as they begin their guiding journey.

The Bald Hills campus will play host to what’s being billed as the ultimate family fun day out.

The day will feature live dog demonstrations, sensory experiences with the vision team, and the chance to win prizes.

Funds raised on the day will go towards the continued training of Guide Dogs to support people with low vision and blindness.

Guide Dogs Queensland’s work enables a life of independence, participation, inclusion, and wellbeing for people with low vision or blindness, and their families.

People will have the opportunity to get to know Guide Dog trainers, pups and the campus, as well as celebrating the inspiring milestones of clients.

Brent Matthews says having a Guide Dog has changed his life in more ways than one.

“My Guide Dog is very patient with me. I can’t describe how grateful I am to have such a kind and gentle pooch to support and assist me with my everyday struggles,” Brent says.

“My life would be incredibly different without my Guide Dog. I wouldn’t be able to be as independent as I am without her.”

The day will also feature great food, inflatables for the kids and fun activities the whole family will enjoy.

There are limited tickets available to the event, which runs from 10am-4pm on Saturday, September 10.

Entry is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
