Food, Art, Music – that’s what you will find at the inaugural Wamuran F.A.M Festival on September 24.
The free event, which is on from 10am-3pm at Wamuran Sports Complex, is a chance to celebrate local producers, makers and artists from Wamuran and surrounds.
Bring an empty picnic basket and fill it up with fresh local produce straight from the farm including strawberries, honey, cheese and vegetables. Then, unwind on a picnic rug, enjoy local foodie finds and listen to local musicians including Vixens of Fall.
Market stalls will support local artisans selling everything from plants, jewellery, homewares to foodie delights and more. Food trucks will also serve up delicious cuisine throughout the event.
Wamuran F.A.M Festival is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and supported by major sponsors Ausbuild and Moreton Daily.
It’s part of the Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival, a six-week program of foodie events across the Moreton Bay Region which runs until September 25.
Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Tony Latter (Div 12) says Wamuran locals were gearing up for an awesome day out.
“If there’s one thing Wamuran does better than anyone else, it’s our awesome local produce,” Cr Latter says.
“Our famous strawberries, honey, cheeses and vegetables are just some of the beautiful foods that will be ready to be sampled straight from the paddock in what will be foodies' dream event.
“But that’s not all. There’ll be plenty of local musicians playing live, including the country trio Vixens of Fall and market stalls full of our local artisans’ work. And if that doesn’t satisfy you then grab a bite to eat at one of the many food trucks and have a wander around."
Mayor Peter Flannery says this is one of dozens of events being held this financial year, in direct response to calls from locals for more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods.
“We’ve heard you and we’re acting to deliver more great local events close to home, so it’s close to home and easy for local families,” he says.
Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism Founder and CEO Shane Newcombe says his team is proud to be working with the Wamuran community to make this event happen.
“This is our chance to shine the spotlight on the rich tapestry of producers, makers and artists in Wamuran and the areas surrounding it,” Mr Newcombe says.
“They work hard, doing what they do every day, and seldom draw attention to their efforts. This event will do just that, while also providing an opportunity for locals and visitors to enjoy a day out.”
