Donnybrook
About Donnybrook
A small coastal town, which began as a small fishing community but has since developed into a minor tourist destination.
Fishing remains a popular activity in Donnybrook due to the close proximity of the Pumicestone Passage. The Passage is part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park and is frequented by dolphins, dugongs and turtles.
Donnybrook is serviced by two general stores, a caravan Park, a bowls club, a community hall
History of Donnybrook
In 1880s the Pumicestone Channel had rich oyster beds and the Moreton Bay Oyster Company established a depot on Donnybrook. The oyster beds petered out in the 1940s and silt deposits and ended any prospect of recovery.
