The Federal Government’s Brisbane North Jobs Fair will bring together local job seekers and businesses in and around the region on Friday, September 17 at the Hope Centre, Moreton, at Rothwell.

Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business Minister Stuart Robert says the event will promote a wide range of employment opportunities for job seekers looking to get into work.

“The Australian Government is committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, as we continue our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Robert says.

“Creating jobs and boosting the skills of Australians to help them get back into work is at the heart of our economic recovery plan.

“Continuing the strong momentum we’ve seen in the local labour market, we want as many job seekers as possible to upskill and reskill and get work in their communities.”

Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services Luke Howarth says certain sectors of the economy are experiencing strong demand for workers.

“We know there is a real need to fill vacancies across the Australian labour market, which is why the Brisbane North Jobs Fair is so important,” Mr Howarth says.

“There will be more than 1000 jobs on offer at the fair, including in manufacturing, transport and logistics, retail and sales, agriculture along with health care and social assistance jobs which will all play a key role in our economic recovery.

“We are committed to helping job seekers find employment opportunities, whether they’re looking in Brisbane or somewhere else in South East Queensland.”

Mr Howarth says the Federal Government’s ongoing commitment to creating more jobs will set Australia up for future prosperity.

“Our plan to connect local job seekers with work will help Australia bounce back stronger than ever after the COVID-19 pandemic,” he says.

“Our community is working hard to support its businesses and job seekers take advantage of new employment opportunities as our economic recovery gathers pace.”

The Brisbane North Jobs Fair is free with sessions running from:

• 9-11.15am

• 11.45am-2pm

• 2.30-4.45pm

Registrations are essential to ensure COVID-19 safety guidelines are met.
