The 2025 Dickson Community Awards, held alongside the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at Samford, celebrated local heroes for their dedication and service to the community.
Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton hosted the event on Australia Day, presenting 16 awards to individuals, businesses, and organisations making a positive impact in his electorate.
Dr Sudipto Roy of Warner was named 2025 Dickson Citizen of the Year, recognizing 17 years of volunteering.
Dr Roy dedicates more than 40 hours each week to supporting multicultural communities through mental health programs, counselling, and events, reaching more than 1.5 million people worldwide.
This year’s awards included the Judy Kranen Excellence in Community Service Award, named in honour of Judy Kranen OAM, who dedicated her life to community service before passing away in late 2024.
The award was presented to Christine West in recognition of her ongoing support of local community organisations.
Mr Dutton congratulated all recipients and thanked them for their contributions to the community.
“It’s important to remember these remarkable individuals are everyday people with families and commitments who achieve extraordinary things. Their selflessness makes our community a better place to live, work, study, and volunteer,” Mr Dutton said.
“Congratulations to all the recipients. Your community spirit exemplifies how Australians generously give their time to make a positive impact on the lives of others.”
