Action-packed school holiday program

September school holidays are upon us and there is no shortage of fun and interesting activities across Moreton Bay Region for the whole family.

Here are just some of the highlights from Council’s jam-packed holiday program to keep the kids entertained during the spring break.

Active Holidays

For active and adventurous kids, there are 86 free or low-cost activities to get hooked on between September 21 and October 4.

Get hands-on with self-defence classes that will leave children feeling empowered, learn from qualified table tennis coaches, or simply enjoy being outside kayaking around beautiful Lake Kurwongbah.

Bookings are now open through the Healthy and Active Moreton website and classes are filling fast, so get in quickly!

Galleries and Museums

For the creatives looking to explore new worlds or get crafty, Moreton Bay Regional Council Galleries and Museums have a host of workshops, talks, exhibitions and more.

Become a secret soldier at Bribie Island Seaside Museum and take home a Top Secret Mission Kit to learn about the life of soldiers and medical personnel during WWII.

Listen to a talk about butterflies or learn how to craft glow bugs out of recycled materials at Redcliffe Museum.

Become a science fiction filmmaker with Studio Fantastico as part of the all-day Spring Family Day to celebrate the opening of the Cleverman exhibition at Caboolture Regional Art Gallery.

Libraries

For little academics searching for stimulation these holidays, Moreton Bay Region Libraries have a bunch of unique and entertaining activities for all ages.

Learn tips on job hunting, interviews and writing resumes at the Getting Your First Job workshop or join Minecraft Club Online to explore and connect with new friends from the comfort of your home.

The libraries team has a host of events for new parents too, with multiple Bubs and Blankets locations, Storytime in the Park, take home activities, and dreamcatchers and rock painting.

Environment Centres

Discover and learn about Moreton Bay’s natural habitats through Council’s various environment centres.

Guided tours of Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre (CREEC) and Osprey House can be booked through Healthy and Active Moreton website.

Young visitors will be given take-home packs that include activities to keep them busy over the school holidays.
