#1. Ocean Playground

Splash around, get wet and wild and make the Moreton Bay Marine Park your playground with the ultimate boom netting experience thanks to Dolphin Wild Island Cruises. What started up on the Great Barrier Reef is now available right here on Moreton Bay’s doorstep. Take a cruise around Moreton Island in the netting at the back of a 22m vessel. Catch sight of some local Moreton Bay marine life or wildlife such as dolphins, birds, dugongs and turtles – maybe even some whales if it’s migration season. It’s safe for all ages and is a great experience for any kids who’d love a chance to see the exotic sea life below the surface.

#2. Beach Driving

Get the true-blue Aussie experience of beach-bashing on the beautiful Bribie Island. Do it yourself (with the relevant permits) or take a tour of the island with G’day Adventure Tours and get some solid sight-seeing in. Sit back, relax and enjoy being chauffeured through the natural wonders, spotting some native wildlife and learning about the historic remnants. Learn about Bribie’s history as you explore the World War II bunkers at Fort Bribie, take a quick dip in one of the lagoons and don’t forget to bring along your surfboard and fishing reels!

#3. Jet through Pumicestone Passage

Hit the waterways on a half day guided tour of Bribie Island, Pumicestone Passage and the Moreton Bay. Leaving from Sandstone Point, head north for some sightseeing of local townships and Bribie Island National Park before stopping for a snack and heading back out onto the eastern side of Bribie. On your return trip, swing by Fort Bribie, past local beaches and cut across the southern end back out into the Moreton Bay Marine Park. Enjoy a post-trip lunch at Sandstone Point Hotel – all thanks to Moreton Bay Jet Ski Hire & Ride.

#4. Ocean-Gliding

Are you an eager sports enthusiast looking to learn a new skill? Sail into Sandgate this summer for water sports lessons in windsurfing, kitesurfing, foiling, stand up paddle boarding, as well as land buggy and blokart lessons. Skim across the ocean and feel the wind rush by you as you reach speeds of around 30km/hr! Try out some high-speed blasting and soaring jumps or opt for a light wind cruise along the Moreton Bay. Purchase gear and accessories, hire out water sports equipment or get yours repaired, book private lessons or group sessions, organise a boat tour or fishing charter – the choices are endless! All this and more available at Surf Connect Wind & Kitesurfing School. But don't take our word for it, check out Christine's review on Trip Advisor.

#5. Pipe Dreams

Soak up the sunshine with two hours of water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding fun! With your own skipper from Boating Planet Redcliffe to tow you around and no experience necessary, these water activities make a great outing for friends or families! Whether you’re a beginner or you’ve done this several times before, there’s not doubt that adrenaline will be pumping through your veins. If it’s your first time, you might start out on double skis and advance to a single ski. If you’ve been before, there’s no doubt your group will expect to see some tricks or watch you take on a slalom course.

#6. Bush Play in a State Forest

Open to mountain bike riding, Bunyaville State Forest and Conservation Park makes for a scenic and energetic outing. There are 10 mountain bike trails to choose from with changing levels of gradients that cover anywhere from 545m to 1.5km. It is possible to cover all tracks, reaching about 22km and taking roughly 2.5hours. These paths are single file, suitable for confident, intermediate riders and not recommended for young children. If you don’t feel like riding, there’s also some great forest walks and the option to bring your horse and man's four-legged best friend - your dog.

#7. Hike the River Trail

It’s best to bring your bathers for this one. This little-known and well-hidden gem known as the Northbrook Gorges takes you off the beaten track and is the perfect mix of hiking trails and gorges. After spending the first half hour trekking through what can almost be considered rainforest, you’ll come across the first gorge. Depending on the time of year, getting across may require simple wading or a quick dip. However, the highlight of this hike is the large, almost crystal-clear rock swimming pool with a short waterfall at the second gorge. To top it off, bring along a snack to lay back and picnic while relaxing to the tranquil sounds of native wildlife such as bellbirds. Recommended for experienced hikers only.

#8. Back to Nature 4WD & Swim

Voted as one of the top attractions to visit near Brisbane, D’Aguilar National Parks Rocky Hole is a picturesque swimming location set amongst a backdrop of dense rainforest and local wildlife. It is also home to a timber wing, a waterfall and many surrounding boulders. While the water can get quite deep in some spots, it is recommended to avoid diving and jumping. There are shallow spots perfect for younger children and the boulders can make for a great boulder hopping activity.
