Bee Gees Way closed for maintenance
Work has begun on an upgrade of the iconic Bee Gees Way.
Moreton Bay Regional Council announced in July that $244,000 would be spend on audio, visual and lighting infrastructure for Bee Gees Way as part of the 2020-21 Council Budget.
Mayor Peter Flannery said technology installed for the launch of Stage 2 of Bee Gees Way more than five years ago had stood the test of time well outdoors, where it was exposed to salty sea breezes and the elements.
Major drawcard
“There’s no questioning the Immortality of this major tourism drawcard on the Peninsula, but these works are essential to ensure no one questions How Deep Is Our Love for the Bee Gees,” Mayor Flannery said.
Bee Gees Way closed on October 12, and work is expected to be completed before Christmas to ensure minimal disruption for tourists wanting to visit the popular attraction.
Councillor for Division 6 Karl Winchester said he was thrilled to be able to continue the legacy the Bee Gees had left.
Important contribution
“The Bee Gees hold a special place in the hearts of many in Redcliffe and it is a priority of Council to ensure these local heroes are continued to be remembered for their important contribution to the arts and entertainment industry,” Cr Winchester said.
“The team at Pro Av Solutions did the initial audio-visual installation and have done a great job of maintaining it over the past five years, so I know they’ll deliver again to keep this attraction Stayin’ Alive.”
