Firefighters have brought a blaze at the Redcliffe Waste Management Facility under control.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said crews were called to the Duffield Rd facility at Clontarf about 9.15am and had contained the fire, which caused a plume of thick black smoke, by 9.45am.
Two crews initially responded to the call, with another four arriving shortly after, along with several ambulances.

An excavator was used to help stem the flames, which a Moreton Bay Regional Council spokesman said started in a scrap metal pile as material was being loaded to be transported offsite.
Council staff were turning people away from the facility as the incident unfolded, but it was expected to reopen about 11am.
