Celebrate Australia Day in a new stunning location
Crack out the swimmers and sunscreen - it’s time to celebrate Australia Day in Scarborough with live entertainment, mechanical surfboard and a huge fireworks finale.
Families across Moreton Bay and South East Queensland are invited to Australia Day in Moreton Bay on January 26 from 4-8pm at its new location, Scarborough Beach Park.
Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) CEO, Shane Newcombe, is excited at the prospect of the event’s new home.
Perfect setting
“Scarborough is one of the most beautiful areas in the region and is the perfect setting to celebrate Australia’s national holiday,” Shane says.
“I encourage local and visiting families to come along with chairs and blankets, and enjoy an afternoon of talented local musicians, free and low-cost activities.”
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Peter Flannery said Scarborough Beach Park is one of the region’s most popular destinations.
“Hosting an iconic event like Australia Day is a wonderful opportunity to showcase this stunning jewel in the crown of the Redcliffe Peninsula,” Mayor Flannery said.
“This event is a chance for locals to come together in their own backyard and celebrate how lucky they are to be a part of their community, in what’s truly a beautiful part of the world.
"When I speak with the locals, it’s easy to see how proud they are to be able to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle, getting down to the beach on the weekend, riding and walking along the waterfront, fishing and swimming in the bay, enjoying a meal with family and friends, and watching the kids play sport at one of the many local clubs.
Bursting with pride
“I know the Scarborough community will be bursting with pride at the chance to host the party on their beach.”
Councillor Sandra Ruck (Div 5) said locals are buzzing with excitement. “Scarborough Beach is much loved by all our community, and it’s easy to see why.
“The foreshore boasts not only uninterrupted views across to Moreton Island, but many shady barbecue and picnic areas, playgrounds, trees for climbing at Pirate Place, footpaths, scoot or ride along the water, swimming and building sandcastles."

“What better way for the entire family to spend Australia Day and wrapping up the day with a big fireworks display right over the beach?”
Event organisers recently announced solo performer, Alex Kosenko, duo act, Scarlett Gunner, and bands Souled and Lost Safari Band all confirmed as part of the live program.
Once the boogying has finished get ready for the huge fireworks display from 8pm.
Local parking
Parking will be available in Scarborough Beach Park carpark and surrounding streets.
