The Redcliffe Tigers will kick off their Inclusion Team’s first season with a Come and Try session this weekend.
A club spokeswoman says it is an opportunity to open the club to players of all abilities, providing a welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy the game of football.
“Building on the success of our premiership-winning wheelchair team in 2024, this marks another exciting chapter in the growth and inclusivity of the Redcliffe Tigers,” she says.
“We are also proud to announce Shane Johnsson as the coach of our new Inclusion Team. Shane has been a valued member of the Tigers family for many years and brings a wealth of experience and passion for football to this important role.
“This is an exciting step forward for our club, and we can’t wait to see the impact our Inclusion Team will have in 2025 and beyond.”
The Come and Try session is on February 1 from 10-11.30am at 30 Nathan Rd, Kippa Ring.
The Inclusion Team welcomes all members of the community who identify as living with a disability, aged 16 and over who want to play AFL.
Those wanting to attend the Come and Try session are asked to bring sporting shoes or footy boots, a hat, sunscreen and drink bottle.
Regular training will start every week from February 10, 2025.
Sessions are on Mondays at 30 Nathan Rd, Kippa Ring, from 6.15-7.30pm; and Wednesdays at Rothwell Park, 25 McGahey St from 6-7.30pm.
For more information and to register for the Come and Try session contact coach Shane Johnsson via email [email protected] or phone 0414 449 827.
