Seven community and school initiatives across the Moreton Bay Region will benefit from nearly $50,000 in grants from local developer and home builder Ausbuild in round one of The Sanctuary Community Fund.

The recipients were announced at Albany Creek yesterday.

Ausbuild Joint Managing Director Michael Loney named the fund’s first recipients, who were independently selected by The Sanctuary Community Reference Group.

The recipients are:

• A Brave Life

• Albany Creek Scout Group

• Bray Park State High School P&C

• Bray Park State School P&C

• Moreton Bay United Football Club

• Pine Rivers St. Andrews Hockey Club

• Pine Rivers Swans Australian Football Club.

“Our vision is to create well-planned, well-connected communities in Moreton Bay, and people are at the heart of that commitment,” Mr Loney says.

“It’s so great to see the fund come to life through these important local initiatives, and we wish each of them every success in the future as they embark on their new programs and facilities.”

Funds provided to the first round of recipients will support a range of grass-roots initiatives and programs across Moreton Bay including new and upgraded school sporting facilities, new equipment and uniforms for community clubs, and a program that assists vulnerable young mothers.

Albany Creek Scouts Group Leader Dougal Mayor says Ausbuild’s grant program will provide a fantastic opportunity to upgrade their trailer and support more club activities.

“We are grateful to receive assistance from The Sanctuary Community Fund, which will help our parents and volunteer leaders to transport equipment and better deliver fun, adventurous, challenging and inclusive activities for our youth members,” Mr Mayor says.

The Sanctuary Community Fund was launched in early 2022 as part of Ausbuild’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth across the Moreton Bay Region.

The Fund complements Ausbuild’s sponsorship of local events including the Redcliffe Kite Festival, Moreton Bay Kids Festival, and Christmas in the Moreton Bay Region, as well as a partnership with the New Zealand Warriors who are calling the region ‘home’ this year.

The second round of grant applications will open later this year and Mr Loney is encouraging the community to stay informed through the Ausbuild website and Facebook page.
