Consultation starts for new Dayboro Police Station

The Dayboro community will be able to have its say about a new police station for the township.

Morayfield State MP and Police and Corrective Services Minister Mark Ryan joined Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Doug Smith yesterday to start community consultation about replacing the facility.

Tenders are scheduled to be called in October to build the station, with construction expected to begin early next year and completed by the end of 2023.

Deputy Commissioner Smith says the new facility will replace the current station in Bradley St, which was built in 1961.

“The original Dayboro Police Station was built in 1916 and was replaced in 1961,” Deputy Commissioner Smith says.

“The new police facility will provide general duty policing functions and cater for future operational requirements.

“I am very proud of the work our officers do in this part of the state and am keen to hear what our community members require from police in the area.”

Planning for the future

Mr Ryan says the Queensland Government has committed $4 million to the project, to ensure the replacement meets future requirements.

“The proposed replacement facility will provide accommodation for up to 12 officers and administration staff and will include an officer in charge, general duties day room, equipment store, holding cell and interview room,” Mr Ryan says.

While the new station is being built, police will move into the Ambulance Station in McKenzie St.

“I am very grateful to our Queensland Ambulance Service colleagues who have agreed to accommodate our Dayboro police officers for the duration of the construction.

“I am pleased to be here today with members of the Dayboro community to ensure this new facility meets their policing needs now, and well into the future.”
