Cooking up treat at steam fair

A cook-off with a difference will be one of the highlights at Old Petrie Town’s annual Steam Fair on Saturday and Sunday.

Three cooks – one being Councillor Cath Tonks (Div 9) – will prepare breakfast using shovels and steam engineers’ pits to cook.

The meal will then be served to Mayor Peter Flannery who will taste and judge each before deciding the winner.

Grand parade

It is a novel addition to the steam fair which takes visitors back to the 1900s with working and static steam engines and steam rollers.

Features of the two-day fair include a grand parade at noon on both days and classic cars with the Buick Car Club of Australia joining the fun on Sunday.

There will also be demonstrations, stalls, a jumping castle, animal farm on Sunday, shops and a food court at Old Petrie Town.

Free entry

Visitors will also be able to see the pottery, blacksmith and other regular attractions during the family fun days.

The Old Petrie Town Steam Fair is on Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 7am-2pm. Entry is free. Plenty of parking on site.
