Just five new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Queensland in the past 24 hours - four in home quarantine and linked to the Indooroopilly cluster and one in hotel quarantine.
The result comes as Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced a new mass vaccination centre will open at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday,
Ms Palaszczuk says everyone aged 16-59 is now eligible to be vaccinated and urges people to register for a vaccine through the Queensland Health website, with more Pfizer vaccines becoming available.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre vaccine clinic will open seven days a week from 8.30am-4.30pm and free parking will be available.
But Ms Palaszczuk says no walk-in appointments will be available and appointments will only be offered to those registered.
She says there are now 12,364 people in home quarantine, with 153 active cases, and 26,394 people tested yesterday.
Clarity for sport
Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young says restrictions remain for community sport - for both adults and children - with up to 10 people allowed to gather in a public place, as long as masks are worn and social distancing is maintained.
She says as long as the guidelines are followed, non-contact sports such as golf or tennis - or even dance classes without contact - can proceed.
"What I don't want to see is kids from a whole lot of different schools coming together," Dr Young says.
She continues to urge people to get tested for COVID-19, no matter how mild their symptoms.
"Any symptoms at all - don't think it's your normal hayfever - just come forward and get tested," she sayd.
Health Minister and Member for Redcliffe Yvette D'Ath says businesses must be mindful of new restrictions, which only allow for one person per 4sqm.
"By all means, go out and support our cafes and businesses, but we have an obligation to social distance," she says.
Restrictions for Impacted Areas – South East Queensland
The impacted areas of South East Queensland include:
- City of Brisbane
- Moreton Bay Regional Council
- City of Gold Coast
- City of Ipswich
- Lockyer Valley Regional Council
- Logan City
- Noosa Shire Council
- Redland City
- Scenic Rim Regional Council
- Somerset Regional Council
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council
What’s changed from 8 August 2021
From 4pm Sunday 8 August, the 11 Local Government Areas in South East Queensland will come out of lockdown. Some restrictions will continue to apply for the next two weeks, including:
- Mask wearing at all times (including workplaces) except when eating or drinking, or exercising with your household or one other person.
- Schools will reopen, with all staff and high school students wearing masks
- 10 people in your home, including people who live there
- 20 at weddings and funerals
- Businesses and venues with one person per four square metres, or 50 percent capacity with seated, ticket allocations
- Community sport not permitted
- Avoid travelling to regional Queensland
- Visitors allowed to hospitals, aged care and disability accommodation
Movement and gathering
If you are currently in an impacted area you can leave your home for any purpose.
- A maximum of 10 people are allowed in homes, including the people that live there
- Up to 10 people can gather in public spaces
Face masks
You must wear a face mask in an impacted area.
Outdoors
You must wear a face mask at all times when you are outside your home, including on public transport , when doing non-vigorous exercise, and outdoor workplaces unless:
- you are alone or with the members of your household
- you are alone in your car or with the members of your household
- you are eating or drinking
- you are participating in strenuous exercise
- it is unsafe to wear a mask.
Indoors
You must wear a face mask at all times when you are indoors, including workplaces and schools, even when social distancing is possible, unless:
- you are at your residence and there is no one else there except people you live with
- you are eating or drinking
- you are alone in an office or meeting room with the door closed
- it is unsafe to wear a mask
Schools and childcare: Masks must be worn by teachers and staff (all schools), plus all students in high school regardless of their age.
There are some other exceptions to wearing face masks, including for children under 12 (unless they are at school in Grade 7) and people with particular medical conditions or disabilities. If in doubt, wear a face mask.
Restrictions for Impacted Areas Direction (No. 12) (SEQ eased restrictions Stage 1)
Funerals and weddings
Funeral services can have up to 20 people including the person conducting the service.
Wedding ceremonies can have up to 20 people including the celebrant and two witnesses, and up to 20 people can dance at any one time.
Businesses and events
Restricted Businesses and venues: (including places of worship, convention centres, and dining etc.) Allowed to operate with the following restrictions:
- Indoor – 1 person per 4m2 or 50 per cent capacity with ticketed and allocated seating
- Smaller venues up to 200m2 – 1 person per 2m2, up to a maximum of 50
- Outdoor – 1 person per 2m2
- Eating and drinking must be seated
- No dancing except at weddings.
Schools and childcare: Open. School-based activities and sport can only proceed within each school.
Universities and TAFEs: Open.
Hospitals, aged care and disability services: Queensland hospitals, residential aged care facility or shared disability accommodation services in the impacted areas will be allowed to have visitors, except in certain circumstances such as someone waiting for a COVID-19 test result.
Indoor and outdoor events
Major Sports Stadiums: 50 per cent ticketed and allocated seating for stadiums over 20.000, with a COVID Safe Site Specific Plan.
- Patrons must wear a mask at all times, including when seated. Masks can be removed when eating or drinking.
- Patrons must be seated to eat and drink.
Indoor events: 50 per cent allocated seated and ticketed capacity for indoor events (with COVID Safe Checklist) and outdoor events, including amphitheatres and large convention centres (with COVID Safe Plan) or 1 person per 4m2 indoors and 1 person per 2m2 outdoors.
Outdoor events, 50 per cent ticketed and allocated seating or 1 person per 2m2 outdoors including amphitheatres. Dancing is not permitted.
Community sport: Organised sport of any description including community, club and recreational sport is not permitted to operate.
Note: Professional and elite sport with COVID Safe Professional Sport Plans may operate under their Professional Plan

- immediately travel by private transport directly to your home or accommodation and quarantine
- get tested at your earliest opportunity

If you are unable to complete the contact tracing form please call 134 COVID (134 268) - continue to quarantine even after receiving a negative result. After you complete the contact tracing form you will be contacted by Queensland Health
- continue to monitor for symptoms while you are quarantined. If you become symptomatic get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result
- as you are a close contact, you and anyone who resides at your home or accommodation are required to quarantine for 14 days from the time you were at the venue.
