Newport Marketplace is putting on a five-hour family-friendly show this weekend to celebrate its official opening.
From 2-7pm on Saturday there will be free attractions for children, music, entertainment, an official ribbon cutting ceremony and laser show finale.
“Join us for a day of fun and excitement as we officially open Newport Marketplace,” Axis Capital Director Brett Gillan said.
The grand opening will start at 2pm with music from a local band, stilt walkers, free popcorn and fairy floss carts, face painting and balloon twisting.
At 3pm and 4pm Harrison Lee, the Australian international trampolinist from Redcliffe PCYC, will showcase his skills.
Luke Howarth, Federal Member for Petrie, will cut a ceremonial ribbon to officially open Newport Marketplace at 4.30pm.
A DJ will start at 5pm and continue to 7pm. There are fire twirling sessions at 5.15pm and 6.15pm before the laser show at 7pm.
“Newport Marketplace is the newest retail centre on the peninsula with 17 tenancies comprising an IGA supermarket, medical facilities, health and beauty services, and five dining options with views overlooking the water,” Mr Gillan said.
“A waterfront promenade extends the length of the centre with a jetty projecting out over the water, a great place to sit and relax.
“Newport Marketplace offers the community convenience and relaxed bay side amenity and lifestyle within easy reach.”
Newport Marketplace is at 10 Lakeview Promenade, Newport. For further details click here.
