Organisers of the Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival have cancelled day one of the event tomorrow, but it will go ahead as planned this Saturday and Sunday.

Heavy rain during the past 24 hours, and conditions on site, have caused delays in setting up the massive foodie event at Woody Point’s Apex Park.

To prioritise patron safety and ensure they deliver the festival experience visitors deserve, organisers made the difficult decision to cancel Day 1, Friday August 22.

The good news is that the festival will open on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 as planned with the full program of chefs, wine, food and entertainment ready for patrons.

“Our team will be working around the clock to make sure the site is safe, ready and welcoming for Saturday morning,” the organisers said.

What this means:

• All Friday General Admission and Oasis Club tickets will be automatically valid for entry on Saturday or Sunday.

• Those with Friday tickets, who cannot attend on the weekend, will have their tickets refunded.

• All Friday masterclasses, dining events and experiences will be refunded.

• Organisers recommend patrons wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather to make the most of their festival weekend.

“We know this is disappointing news and we thank you for your understanding. Our priority is your safety and ensuring we can deliver the festival experience you deserve,” the organisers said.

“We look forward to welcoming you bayside on Saturday and Sunday.”
