A passion for delicious cuisine using the best organic ingredients is strong in the Mystek family.
Amazing Polish food has always been on the table and Ania and Eugene’s organic food shop has become an institution in Samford.
So, when the couple decided they wanted to create an area for customers to sit down, their children Carina and Robert decided to make it much more than that. That was in 2013, and since then Canter & Colt Organic Cafe has become a community hub.
Carina says people want to know where their food comes from. The evolving menu reflects seasons, available produce and what customers want. So, does the food taste better? Carina says using chemical-free, seasonal produce is a winning combination.
“We want to keep things clean and sustainable and leave a little footprint. We see that customers are passionate about that as well,” she says.
Carina and Robert source their ingredients from their parents’ shop and use organic Montville Coffee.
“It makes a difference to the taste overall. It’s just something you have to try and decide for yourself.”

YA YA BAR & EATERY
For Jamie McIntyre, the soundtrack for his Samford bar is almost as important as the food and service.
He and partner Jodie Johnson have been building their music collection since high school, and have carefully created playlists that are proving popular with customers.
The soundtrack includes The Saints, Elvis Costello, Television, the Beach Boys, and 1920s blues, and it varies as the night progresses. But it’s not just about the music, the bar is also known for its seasonal menu and themed cuisine nights. There’s plenty of options for everyone, no matter your dietary needs.
Jamie remembers one customer saying there was no other cafe in Brisbane where he could listen to Led Zeppelin over breakfast.
The bar’s name is a nod to the Rolling Stones live album Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!
“We’re very adaptable. If we can make it for people, we will,” he says.
They can also cater for functions and weddings.
