Pine Rivers Garden and Plant Fair returns
Published 6:00am 6 May 2024
The Pine Rivers Garden and Plant Fair returns to the Pine Rivers Showgrounds for a spectacular two-day event.
The fair focuses on gardening and plants only, with a variety of local stallholders on show.
Organiser Chantal de Vere says the fair has been running since 2018 and is a great place for the local green thumb to check out.
“There will be, as always, a huge variety of plants and products to choose from,” she says.
“Indoor plants have become very popular and there are some expert plant growers selling very sought after plants, including pretty cottage garden plants, cacti, aroids, begonias, many tropical plants, specialist Chile plants, orchids, herbs, pottery, ceramics, garden art, aprons, garden arches and much more.
“There are also educational guest speakers on both days, and I choose the speakers who will provide the best information available to the novice and the green thumb.”
This year, there will be a range of guest speakers on both Saturday and Sunday, including Claire Bickle and Leah Robinson.
“Claire Bickle is one of the guest speakers this year. She is a colleague of mine; Claire is on the ABC radio and writes for many magazines,” Chantal explains.
“Leah Robinson will be hosting the floral art spot on Saturday, and all the other guest speakers are available on our website.”
The dog-friendly fair will have food, live entertainment and a bar.
“Food ranges from a sausage sizzle to food vans such as Eat Indonesian, hamburgers, baked potatoes and yummy desserts like fruity ice creams, donuts and poffertjes Dutch pancakes,” Chantal says.
“I am very fortunate to have great sponsors such as Zoom, Seasol and Queensland Organics, as I get to give away products over the weekend. Zoom is a local wholesale plant grower and Queensland Organics is based at Narangba.
“There is also a raffle as well, which I am still getting together. Part of the first prize is a $150 voucher to use at Plant Shack.
“Our Moreton region is rich with fantastic people in the industry, and so much of the sales help local people and brings people into the region. There isn't an event like this in Brisbane…If you want a great day out and great plants, then this event covers all bases.”
