Seqwater is looking for eight entry-level trainees for positions in Moreton Bay and across South-East Queensland.

Applications are open for a two-year course through Seqwater’s Next Generation Traineeship Program with those selected to start next year.

This intake will focus on drinking water treatment, learning how to collect and analyse water samples and treat water to the highest standard.

Dale De Marchi was in hospitality before joining the Seqwater program and is now a water treatment operator at North Pine.

“Hospitality taught me the importance of maintaining high standards and working efficiently under pressure,” he said.

“The career change represented a significant step towards my passion for environment and community.” 

Seqwater Interim CEO, Will Harpham said the Next Generation Traineeship Program is structured around a Certificate III qualification.

“Our traineeships are paid and require no prior experience, giving job seekers the opportunity to earn while you learn,” he said.

“All you need to bring is a great attitude and a willingness to learn from people who are incredibly passionate about what they do.

Minister for Water Glenn Butcher said the water industry is “one of the most important in the world” and has “so many exciting opportunities”.

“I was an apprentice years ago and know how important our government-owned corporations are when it comes to apprentice and traineeship programs,” he said.

Seqwater is the Queensland Bulk Water Supply Authority responsible for delivering bulk water supply across South-East Queensland.

It manages around $11 billion of water supply assets including dams, weirs, conventional water treatment plants and climate resilient sources.
