Enjoy Movie in the Park at Burpengary
Published 5:00am 9 June 2023
Bring your family, friends, and blankets to settle in for a free screening of the superhero movie, Black Adam (PG) at Burpengary’s Symphony Crescent Park on June 17.
The park will be transformed into an outdoor cinema, complete with local food trucks, comfortable seating and activities for the kids.
Arrive early to take advantage of free children’s face painting and to buy movie snacks before the feature film begins at 5.30pm. There will also be food truck onsite.
The movie, starring Dwayne Johnson, follows the story of a powerful anti-hero who returns to seek revenge against those who have wronged him.
Closed captions will appear on the screen during the film.
Movie in the Park Burpengary is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism.
Councillor Mark Booth (Div 2) says locals should bring a blanket in addition to the picnic rug, to enjoy a cool night out.
“Symphony Crescent Park will be transformed into an outdoor cinema that’s completely free for locals, their friends and family,” Cr Booth says.
“We know the cost of living is starting to bite, so providing free community events like this are more important than ever to bring our community together and provide locals with affordable entertainment and recreation options.”
Big year of events
Mayor Peter Flannery says this financial year (2022-23) has seen Council deliver a record number of free community events.
“The response from locals to our new social calendar has been absolutely overwhelming with people turning out in record numbers,” he says.
“We heard your calls for greater vibrancy with more festivals and activities in your suburbs and neighbourhoods, and we’re proud to have delivered that.
“We are considering what more we can do in the 2023-24 Budget to ensure there are plenty of free and low-cost activities to keep people of all ages entertained here in Moreton Bay.
“Providing free entertainment in our region at a time when so many are doing it tough is something we’re committed to, because we know it’s one of the first things to go when discretionary spending is tightened.”
