Enter Pumicestone Small Business Awards
Words by Kylie Knight

Entries are open for the inaugural Pumicestone Small Business Awards and State Member for Pumicestone Ali King is calling on those who own or love a small business in Caboolture, Beachmere, Bribie Island, Sandstone Point, Ningi, Toorbul, Donnybrook, Elimbah, Meldale or Moodlu to enter.

Ms King says she launched the awards to shine a spotlight on small businesses in her electorate.

“Small businesses play such an important role in strengthening our local economy and creating good local jobs,” she says.

“As a former small business owner myself, I know the dedication it takes to run a small business. We have so many brilliant businesses in Pumicestone and I wanted to give them a chance to show off their brilliant products and services.

“The Pumicestone community really backs in local small businesses – already we’ve had over 1000 nominations. I’m asking the Pumicestone community to get involved and show local small businesses and their employees that we appreciate them.”

The 2023 Pumicestone Small Business Awards offer the following categories:

  • Best Trade Business
  • Best Health, Wellbeing & Fitness Business
  • Best Business & Professional Services Business
  • Best Beauty & Hairdressing Business
  • Best Hospitality Business
  • Best Retail Business

There is a special category for Best Small Business Newcomer, open to small businesses that have been operating for one year or less, and nominations are open for Pumicestone Small Business of the Year.

“We all know great customer service is at the heart of small business success, so I’ve created a category to recognise local customer service superstars – the Outstanding Customer Service Award,” Ms King says.

“If you know a small business employee who goes above and beyond every time, be sure to nominate them.”

Nominations are open until Sunday, March 31. The 10 businesses with most nominations in each category will be announced as finalists and the community will vote to choose the winners.

To nominate, head online to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/W7LZRZD or contact Ali King’s office to request a paper form.

Everyone who nominates a small business will go in the draw to win a $200 small business voucher.
