Redcliffe will host an additional round of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship due to a huge demand for tickets.
The national championship will mark its return to Queensland after a five-year break with round one at Kayo Stadium on Saturday October 12.
But such has been the response to ticket sales – round one is almost sold out - organisers have scheduled another round, to be held on Sunday October 13.
This twilight round – now officially the second of five in the 2024 series - will be on a track revised overnight, with racing, a pit party, music and entertainment.
Tickets for round two are on sale at www.australiansupercross.com.au
“To be close to a complete sell out only two weeks after going on sale is an incredible result,” Championship Director Kelly Bailey said.
“We flagged the potential for another round and demand from fans has unlocked the additional Sunday round which will be a twilight, family-friendly race schedule.
“The way we’ve scheduled it provides the opportunity for fans to extend their weekend in the City of Moreton Bay.
“Our track and operations team will work overnight to deliver a revised track from the Saturday for the Sunday round.
“With more championship points on the line, fans will get double the action with these back-to-back rounds.
Bailey thanked fans and event partners the City of Moreton Bay and Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) for their “behind-the-scenes promotional support to make this a reality.”
Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle said: “The build-up to the 2024 series has been “tremendously exciting” and the additional round at Kayo Stadium is a “case-in-point”.
“The interest in the championship literally reaches new heights on a daily basis and reflects what a wonderful discipline it is: fast, furious and always entertaining.”
Details of the fifth and final round of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship will be announced in the coming weeks.
