Morayfield resident Marion Stock is one of 18 contributors to a Family Favourites Cookbook which has been produced for Mother’s Day.

Ms Stock lives at the Thyme Moreton Bay lifestyle resort, which is among the Serenitas communities across the country sharing secret recipes for the book.

The recipes celebrate relationships and memories. By publishing a selection the book is seen as a way of preserving them.

Ms Stock is a grandmother to Bella, who has anaphylaxis risk allergies.

“My beautiful granddaughter Bella is 18 but is limited in what she can eat because she has anaphylaxis risk allergies to many animal proteins,” she said

“I love cooking for her and one day when she was visiting, I created this meal with the suitable ingredients I had available in the cupboard at the time.”

“It has now become a favourite dish of hers and whenever she visits, she always asks me to make it.”

Bella’s Beans and Rice is described, in the book, as a “surprisingly easy recipe” including beans, rice, mushrooms and spinach.

Joan Watts, from Golden Downs Lifestyle Village at Fitzgibbon, also shares her special peanut biscuits recipe brought to Australia by her grandmother when she was just 16.

“I remember going over to my grandma’s where she would always be making these delicious light biscuits over her fuel stove,” she said.

Dot Moore, also at Golden Downs Lifestyle Village, shares a recipe that’s a hit in her big family of four sons, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Serenitas is also planning an over 50s lifestyle development at Rothwell. It was revealed earlier this year and will be Xenium Rothwell.
