Five weeks of non-stop eating! How to make the most of your Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival experience

Many of the region’s best tastemakers and producers are preparing to take foodies on a culinary journey that showcases the region’s diverse bounty of local ingredients as part of the Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival.

The event celebrates the smorgasbord of gourmet ingredients that the Moreton Bay Region is renowned for, including its freshly caught seafood, farm fresh produce, award-winning wines and unique craft beers.

Held from August 19 to September 25, the Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival will plate up 40 exciting and unique experiences for foodies to sink their teeth into, including dining experiences, masterclasses and tours.

Here are 15 of the Feastival’s top events you should add to your foodie itinerary.

Djawun (Home Country) Tours

When: Wednesday, August 24 and Wednesday, September 14

Where: North-west Moreton Bay, including lunch at Ocean View Estates, 2557 Mount Mee Rd, Ocean View

Time: 9am-3pm

Price: $150 plus booking fee

Join artist and traditional Custodian of Jinibara Country, Jason Murphy, as he takes you on a guided tour sharing his knowledge of the land, including traditional ways of hunting and gathering food.

You will also stop in at the beautiful and award-winning Ocean View Estates for a native food-inspired luncheon.

Vines and Hops Tour

When: Friday, August 26; Friday, September 2; Friday, September 9; Friday, September 16; Friday, September 23

Where: Multiple venues across the Hinterland

Time: 9.30am-5.30pm

Price: $185 plus booking fee

Hop on board the Vines and Hops Tour, where you will enjoy a day experiencing the best drops of wines and hops that Moreton Bay has to offer.

On this tour you will visit Ocean View Estates, Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co and Brendale Brewing Co.

Guests will be picked up and dropped off outside the Roma Street Transit Centre.

Dinner on the Upper Deck

When: Friday, August 26

Where: Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co, 21 Bird Opassage Parade, Scarborough

Time: 6.30-10.30pm

Price: $130 plus booking fee

Sit back and relax with a three-course dinner overlooking the marina at Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co.

Your meal will also be matched with their best beer, which is sure to leave an explosion of flavours!

Mystery Farm Dinner with Tony Tierney

When: Friday, September 2 and Friday, September 9

Where: We can’t tell you, sorry, because it’s a mystery

Time: 6-9pm

Price: $165 plus booking fee

If you’re into adventure, it doesn’t get more adventurous than a Mystery Farm Dinner with award-winning chef Tony Tierney. 

While we can’t give too much away, we can tell you that you will be treated to a delicious three-course dinner in the picturesque Moreton Bay Hinterland.

4521 Local Feast

When: Friday, September 2

Where: The Dayboro Drop, 1/1 Heathwood St, Dayboro

Time: 6-9.30pm

Price: $119 plus booking fee

For one special evening, you’ll enjoy a special menu highlighting the food, wine, beer, and spirits from all over the 4521 postcode (Dayboro).

Enjoy a three-course banquet celebrating local produce in every dish, as well as talks by local producers and growers, accompanied by amazing local entertainment.

Peninsula Progressive Dinner

When: Saturday, September 3

Where: Multiple locations across the Peninsula

Time: 6-9.30pm

Price: $189 plus booking fee

Leave the car at home and enjoy fine some ales and food with the team from Tour de Brewery, who will chauffeur you to several top spots on the Redcliffe Peninsula.

You will start with an entrée and a Pale Ale at Showcase Beers, followed by your main meal at Cactus Jacks, plus down another cool and refreshing beverage at Horny Wombat Brewery.

But it doesn’t end there, with another two locations included on the itinerary.

Father's Day Strawberry Sesh

When: Sunday, September 4 from 12pm

Where: LuvaBerry Farm, 65 Ziviani Rd, Wamuran

Time: 12-4pm

Price: Ticket prices vary depending on the activity you book

Your dad will enjoy roaming the farm with a beer from Bribie Island Brewing Company in one hand and picking fresh, juicy strawberries with the other.

You can also relax to the sounds of musician Andrea Kirwin, who will be performing on the day.

Tickets to the pick sesh are $15 per adult and $10 per child, or you can upgrade to a family package for $100 which covers two adults and two children, a Bribie Island Brewing Co Tasting for two people, a small grazing box and a LuvaBerry signature strawberry sundae for two.

The Komo's Flavour of the Bay

When: Thursday, September 15

Where: The Komo, 99 Marine Parade, Redcliffe

Time: 5.30-7.30pm

Price: $49 plus booking fee

As the sun sets over beautiful Moreton Bay, you and your friends will enjoy an array of tasty seafood dishes and beautiful cocktails that are worth a mention on Instagram at The Komo.

Getting Hip with Hops

When: Friday, September 16

Where: Hip Hop Brewers, 264 S Pine Road, Brendale

Time: 6.30-9.30pm

Be amongst the first to step foot inside Moreton Bay’s newest craft beer bar, where you will meet with the head brewer and learn the secrets of the trade.

Bribie Brewing Experience

When: Saturday, September 17

Where: Bribie Island Brewing Company

Time: 3-7.30pm

Price: $139 plus booking fee

You won’t need to worry about a designated driver this day (well not at least until you get dropped off in the evening, but isn’t that what Ubers are for?).

Let the team from Tour de Brewery take you up the Bruce Highway to Bribie Island Brewing Company where you will sample their beer, cider and ginger beer, which is all brewed onsite.

Rise and Shine

When: Sunday, September 18

Where: LuvaBerry Farm, 65 Ziviani Rd, Wamuran

Time: 8-11am

Price: $45 plus booking fee

Get your body moving and enjoy an early morning yoga class, which is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Afterwards, you can munch on breakfast which consists of Bask and Co granola and freeze-dried strawberries, as well as a signature LuvaBerry smoothie.

Meet the Brewer

When: Sunday, September 18

Where: Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co, 21 Bird Opassage Parade, Scarborough

Time: 10am-12pm

Price: $90 plus booking free

This is your opportunity to meet the head brewer and learn how to pour the perfect beer every time.

Plus, you are sure to love the barbecue spit for lunch, with a tasting paddle consisting of four Scarborough Harbour Brewing Co beers (pictured above) which are sure to satisfy your thirst.

Butcher, Brew plus You

When: Sunday, September 18

Where: The Dayboro Drop, 1/1 Heathwood St, Dayboro

Time: 4-8pm

Have you ever wanted to learn how to smoke meat or make your own homemade marinades? Then this is the event for you!

The crew at The Dayboro Drop has teamed up with Dayboro Village Meats and Carinya Rise Meats to show you everything you need to know.

You will then get to put your knowledge to the test and try your hand at creating your own perfect smoke meat before sitting down to enjoy the three-course meal you’ve created!

Plus, you will also get to sip on some tasty brews.

By the Bay Spring Harvest

When: Saturday, September 24

Where: Annie Lane, 5/1 Toorbul St, Bongaree

Time: 6-9pm

Price: $100 plus booking fee

You are sure to feel completely relaxed as you absorb the Bribie Island vibes at this candlelit outdoor dining experience.

Chefs Candice Kiss and Andie Jade will be plating up a three-course fusion of aromas which celebrates their collective food styles.

One of the highlights on the menu is the Roman gnocchi, Longyard beef cheek, mustard fruit, pickled pumpkin foam and smoked almond onion petals.

Don’t forget the main course – The Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival

After two years of cancellations due to COVID, the hugely popular and much-loved Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival is making its triumphant return to Apex Park in Woody Point from August 19-21.

Organisers are keen to make up for lost time over the last few years, so they are promising to bring you the biggest, best and tastiest event yet!

There will be so much happening across the three days that we suggest you don’t eat for a week beforehand (kidding, but seriously, you will want to go on an empty stomach!)

There will be multiple food stalls selling everything under the Moreton Bay sun, as well as presentations by celebrity chefs (including Alastair McLeod, Miguel Maestre, Manu Fidel, Dom Rizzo and Adriano Zumbo, just to name a few!).

Plus, you can’t have this amazing event and not end each night without a spectacular fireworks display!
