Free dietary advice to improve health or sports performance will be available when a new clinic opens at UniSC Moreton Bay later this month.

University of the Sunshine Coast students from the Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) program will offer free consultations initially one day a week at the Petrie campus.

Clinical Educator Zara Nance said students will be supervised by accredited practising dietitians at the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic, which opens on Monday February 24.

Miss Nance, who is also a sports dietitian with the Dolphins NRL team, said students would give tailored information, based on latest evidence, to help clients meet needs and goals.

“This clinic will be very valuable to anyone wanting to improve their dietary habits and sports performance or to learn more about how food can improve health and wellbeing,” she said.

“It will give UniSC students excellent clinical experience, including assessing clients’ personal and medical circumstances as part of the consultations.”

Self-referrals and other referrals will be accepted, with each initial one-hour consultation followed by a half-hour review.

Demand is expected to be high, so places are limited. To register interest go to www.usc.edu.au/community/unisc-clinics/unisc-lifestyle-and-performance-nutrition-clinic
