The team at Everfresh Food Market at Capestone Village wants to make grocery shopping an experience customers enjoy with a large range of gourmet meats, cheese and groceries, a full bakery, real butchers and a focus on fresh food.

Owner and CEO Graham Booysen says the Mango Hill store is his third Everfresh outlet but the first purpose-built concept store. He has 31 other stores under the Cornetts Supermarkets banner across Queensland.

He says Everfresh stores are very different to IGA stores and the new store, which is 2000sqm, will open on October 30.

“The range is bigger and the space allocated to fresh is bigger, and then we also have a big range of gourmet grocery and gourmet deli – jars of pickles and mustards and all that kind of stuff that adds value to food,” Graham says.

“We wanted something that when you walked in, it’s a great environment. We don’t want people sitting at home on their computers ordering their groceries. That’s just boring.”

He says they are creating an environment which is inviting and provides great service.

“It’s pretty, it looks good, you feel comfortable in it, it’s open, it’s got space to manoeuvre plus it’s got things that are so different that you actually want to come and have a look,” Graham says.

“When they walk in, they see the cheeses for the weekend if they’re going to the beach. We want to take the horribleness out of buying groceries.”

Point of difference

He says the secret is to be accommodating and welcoming and provide products that are different.

“The Oakfield ham, which is our own brand, is made by a deli in Redcliffe. It’s a 110-year-old recipe and it’s $8.99/kg. It’s a double-smoked Australian pork – it’s not infused stuff with juice to make it taste like ham this is actually double-smoked and made just down the road,” Graham says.

“We have a lot of local products, a lot of local suppliers.”

One of those is Capestone Cupcakes, made by a local woman who lives in the Capestone estate.

There will also be a huge range of baked goods made onsite in the fully functioning bakery including focaccias, French loaves and baked bread.

Customers will be able to buy roasted pork, lamb, and chicken, and choose from a selection of Beefy’s Pies.

There will be a large fresh produce section and a fully functioning butchery with butchers onsite.

“You can tell them exactly how thick you want it and you can watch them cut it up,” he says.

The store will also sell gifts, chocolates and flowers from Campbell and Bradley, based at the Sunshine Coast.
