Show time: New activities and entertainment planned for Pine Rivers Show
Excitement is mounting for the 117th Pine River Show, which is set to deliver some classic show favourites as well as an array of new activities and entertainment for families to enjoy.
Pine Rivers Show Operations Manager Lizzie Cathcart says the three-day spectacular, which will be held from July 29-31, will be jam-packed with family-friendly activities and competitions.
“We are extremely excited about this year’s show, and we can’t wait for the community to come down and enjoy themselves,” Lizzie says.
“This year we will have some new and fun things for families to enjoy.
“One thing that is new this year is Queensland Medieval Combat, which are people who wear 30kgs of armour and have massive swords and re-enact fights, which is really entertaining.
“The woodchop is one of the main attractions of the show and this year we will have a new hot saw competition.
“We also have a new animal area at the back of the grounds.”
Food galore
Along with the humble Dagwood Dog covered in tomato sauce, Lizzie says there will be plenty of items on the menu to fill rumbling tummies.
“We have updated the food court area to bring it forward into the next era and make it a little hipper,” she says.
“There will be lots of food trucks and music playing.”
Don’t forget the Showbags
According to Lizzie, there will be an abundance of providers selling everything from chocolate to chips, lollies, toys, magazines and more.
“We will have seven Showbag vans that will all be in the one area in Showbag Alley so everyone can come along and pick up their favourite.”
Entry prices
The Show Society has kept their entry fees the same price so they can ensure the show remains affordable for families.
“Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for teenagers and anyone under the age of 12 is free,” Lizzie says.
“We have stuck with that price guide for many decades because our focus has been to make this event affordable for families.
“We also have a special promotion where anyone who enters the gates on the Friday between 9am and 3pm gets free entry.”
Tickets can be purchased only at the entry gates (Eftpos available).

The Pine Rivers Show will be held on:
Friday, July 29 from 9am-10pm
Saturday, July 30 from 9am-10pm
Sunday, July 31 from 9am-4pm

Travelling by public transport
The Showgrounds is walking distance from bus stops and the Lawnton Train Station.

If you are driving, limited free on-street parking is available along Lawnton Pocket Road.
