Genius! Dolphins’ Monopoly game

In a move that’s marketing genius, the Dolphins have just released a Monopoly game to celebrate their first season in the NRL.

Players will surely be hoping to avoid the Wayne Bennett ‘chance card’ which reads: ‘You are late to a meeting with Wayne. Pay $50’.

Dolphins NRL CEO Terry Reader says the game, which was launched today, is another first for the club.

“It is always a long wait for a Dolphins game to come around on the weekend, so now our fans can kill a bit of that time by playing Dolphins Monopoly,” Reader says.

“Supporters are also going to have fun trying to buy their favourite player as a ‘property’ during the game, and then building them into grandstands and stadiums, rather than houses and hotels.

“And even the greatest coach in rugby league history, Wayne Bennett, makes a prominent appearance on the game board.”

Here’s a sample of the Chance and Community Cards created for the game:

  • Stadium rent is due. For each grandstand, pay $25. For each stadium, pay $100
  • You are late to a meeting with Wayne. Pay $50
  • You've won try of the year. Receive $100
  • You are late to pre-season training. Pay $100
  • You've purchased Grand Final tickets for all your friends. Collect $10 from every player
  • You've been added to the NRL hall of fame. Receive $100.

The game retails for $90. Head to the website for details
