Approved plans for new apartments, on a prime vacant site in the Redcliffe CBD, may change.
Moreton Bay City Council last year gave the green light for 14 apartments and a food and drink outlet at 167 Sutton St.
The development application (DA) was for a nine-storey building, with the top seven each having two apartments, on the corner of Sutton and Creek Sts.
However, a new DA – publicly available on Council’s website - is for additional apartments and floors on the triangular 1500sqm block.
“This application seeks to extensively retain the existing approval, albeit with an additional four dwellings over an additional two storeys,” the DA says.
The application adds “exceeding the building height is partially to address raising the ground floor level to achieve appropriate flood immunity”.
It also says the development is “within a purely commercial area” and would not result in “adverse overshadowing or overlooking residential premises”.
There would also be two retail tenancies, probably a café and restaurant, on the ground floor with a lobby, outdoor dining/gathering space and parking.
On the first floor would be 24 residential and three motorbike parking spaces, as well as communal areas. Floors two to 10 would be apartments.
A public consultation period for the additional apartments/levels has closed.
The block is currently being used as a private car park.
