Highway gets $6m upgrade
Published 5:00am 28 July 2024
Work has started on a $6 million project to resurface the D’Aguilar Highway between Bracalba Quarry and Mossdale Rd, D’Aguilar.
The upgrade, on both sides of the 2.8km stretch, will improve the road surface and underlying pavement and reduce the costs of regular maintenance.
These works will be done at night to minimise traffic disruption and are expected to take a three months, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Traffic controllers will be on site to help motorists through the work area.
Lane
closures, reduced speed limits, road signage and variable message signs will be
in place for the changed traffic conditions and to ensure motorist and
roadworker safety.
"Resurfacing and rehabilitation projects continue to play a key role in maintaining our road network to the highest possible standard to cater for future growth,” Department of Transport and Main Roads Deputy Regional Director, Justin Valks said.
“We know how vital the D’Aguilar Highway is to the wider road network and this new road surface will be welcomed by over 13,000 motorists who travel this section of the highway each day.”
The rehabilitation project is part of Transport and Main Road's (TMR) plans to upgrade the D'Aguilar Highway.
Previous works include 7kms between Sandy Creek and Kilcoy and road rehabilitation on just over 8kms between Woodford and Stony Creek.
