"It's mind-boggling" says winner
Words by Nick Crockford

A Bald Hills man was stunned to find out his spontaneous decision to buy an Instant Scratch-Its led him to a $10,000 top prize.

The north Brisbane resident’s winning $1 Filly Fortunes ticket was bought at Friendly Grocer Bald Hills, in Rothbury Street.

When The Lott confirmed his prize, the winner said he was looking forward to surprising his family with a new set of wheels.

“I still can’t believe it!” he said. “It’s mind-boggling to think a spontaneous decision to buy a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket led me to $10,000.

“I don’t usually purchase Instant Scratch-Its tickets. This was a completely spur-of-the-moment decision! Maybe I will start buying tickets more frequently now.

“The win couldn’t have come at a better time as our family needs another car.

“It will be a surprise for my kids. We’re planning to surprise them over lunch.”

The Friendly Grocer Bald Hills owner Gavin Wang said: “It’s a great feeling to know someone’s life has been changed for the better by playing at our store.

“This is our first Instant Scratch-Its top prize win since we took over the store nearly one year ago.”

He hoped the win would bring the winner “all the happiness and opportunities” they dreamed of.”

This financial year there were 143 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions, more than $12.12 million in collective top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players had more than 26.4 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $249.65 million.
