Enjoying a meal at North Lakes Hotel’s Boardwalk Restaurant is about much more than the cuisine.

Overlooking Lake Eden, the venue’s location adds its own magic.

“It feels like you’re sitting on a boat in North Lakes. It’s very calming and relaxing,” business development manager Chrisna Kraaij explains.

The hotel opened in April 2018 and makes the most of its location with ceiling to floor windows allowing diners to take in the view while enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Ms Kraaij says head chef Jerome Hangan and his talented team have created a menu which is packed with great quality, affordable meals for families.

The menu is seasonal, with some winter warmers available at this time of year including curries.

The daily specials are a hit, at just $14.50, including rump steak on Mondays, pasta dishes on Tuesdays, and delicious curries on Wednesdays.

“We offer decent portions at an affordable price,” Chrisna says.

Jerome has worked in the industry for almost 30 years, in Australia and overseas including Papua New Guinea and Madagascar.

Joining the team at Boardwalk Restaurant almost six months ago, Jerome describes the cuisine as quality bistro-style meals, people can relate to, which are affordable and different.

All items are made from scratch in the kitchen, and the two best sellers are the karaage chicken and zucchini and haloumi fritters.

So, what does Jerome love about cooking?

“The expression, the artistry of it. People sell paintings for thousands and we put it on a plate for a few dollars,” he says.

Patrons love the black angus rib fillet and rump steaks, which Jerome sources from Toowoomba.

The restaurant caters for hotel guests, corporate events and functions, and also locals looking for a family-friendly venue to enjoy a night out.

There’s even been a couple of wedding proposals, with one couple returning to the venue for the big event.

The hotel has nine function spaces throughout and a children’s play area.

“We pride ourselves on being really flexible,” Chrisna says.
