Pastel artists from Australia, New Zealand and beyond will be exhibiting in the Annual Awards at Bribie Island next month.
The Pastel Society of Australia, which has held the awards since 1986, believes the Bribie exhibition in August will be the biggest yet.
On the Awards 40th anniversary, there will also be a celebration of master pastelists promoting pastels as a fine art medium.
The exhibition, with free entry, will be open from August 11-23 (excluding Mondays), with opportunities to network with other artists and free daily demonstrations.
Merla Hynes, Secretary of the Pastel Society of Australia, says the support from City of Moreton Bay had been the key factor in coming to this region.
“An exhibition such as this would be welcomed in many regions as it draws entries and visitors from across Australia,” she said.
“The quality of work is a drawcard but the opportunity for so many pastelists to come together and network is significant.
“It will bring a boost to day visitors and long stay tourism and help promote the region to visitors.”
The Matthew Flinders Gallery, Bribie Community Arts Centre is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Daily pastel demonstrations are free.
