The sounds of some cool jazz musicians will ring out of the park this weekend for the inaugural Moreton Bay Jazz and Shiraz event.
The first of three events kick off this Sunday at Bribie Island, followed by events at Ferny Hills in May and Newport in June.
Headlining this year’s event will be Leena Salim – a passionate artist who has loved jazz since she was a child.
“I am really excited that this is finally happening for Moreton Bay,” Leena said.
“This is a chance for folks to chill and absorb the weekend afternoon vibe with the family or their close friends at the park by the water and listen to good jazz music by local artists.
“It is something for the young and the young at heart.”
Musician Julian Jones will be playing his guitar with Leena during her set this weekend at Bribie.
“Julian has that smooth groove touch with his interpretations of the music we play,” Leena explained.
“We have put together a selection of different jazz genres from our list of bossa nova to pop jazz, swing, rhythm and blues tunes taken from the American Songbook.
“We like to keep it familiar, so expect some tunes such as Fly Me to the Moon, Route 66, Fever, Besame Mucho, Sway and more.
“Our selection will be easy listening and relaxing – the kind that makes you want to just sit back, relax with a cold glass of white hand and just be in the moment.”

Talented artists from southeast Queensland
Also taking to the stage for the three Jazz and Shiraz events are artists Breanna Fielding and Tristan Watson.
“Breanna Fielding is a familiar face in the jazz scene. She is all that – good looks, a great human being and she keeps it real. But when she sings, she sings from her soul. You’ll fall in love with her,” Leena says.
“And Tristan, he has been making waves. If you’ve not heard of him before, this is your chance. He’s someone to look out for.”
