Every November since 2015, a line-up of artists from Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious come together to form the lovingly named, Art with Altitude – a local art exhibition in the magnificent rural bushland of Mount Glorious.
Now in its eighth year, the exhibition will be held at the Mount Glorious Community Hall on Saturday and Sunday, November 18 and 19.
Art with Altitude Convenor Rose Cuthbertson says the new hall has created significant opportunities for the artists.
“Since the newly built and much larger Mount Glorious Community Hall opened in 2022, we have been able to expand the event to include live demonstrations by some of our artists, including pottery throwing, rug-making, wildlife drawing and machine quilting,” Rose says.
“There is no theme, but many of our artists are inspired by the magnificent rainforest environment and wildlife of Mount Glorious and Mount Nebo.”
The exhibition is a family-friendly event, with an array of additional activities to keep the whole family entertained.
“Complementing the art exhibition are a range of quality market stalls, food and barista coffee, live music, art and craft demonstrations, great raffle prizes (including three chances to win a holiday at Mount Glorious), and a children’s playground,” Rose explains.
“A gold coin donation puts you in the draw for a lucky door prize of artwork by one of the talented Mount Glorious artists.
“Mount Glorious is surrounded by D’Aguilar National Park, which includes a picnic area and walking tracks, making it a great family day out overall.”
There will be a diverse range of high-quality artworks from 25 local artists, all for sale at a range of price points.
“Some of the collection includes watercolour, acrylic and oil painting, jewellery, sculpture, ceramics, fibre art, glasswork, line drawing, photography and fine woodwork,” Rose says.
“We also try to include a section of art by our emerging primary school artists from Mount Nebo State School.
“This is truly a community event! In our small community of just 280 residents, at least 60 volunteer in some way to make the event happen. It offers the chance for community members to get together and enjoy a wonderful event, and also get to know their neighbours.
"Personally, I have enjoyed forging deep friendships with fellow residents - not only artists, but volunteers in various capacities…”

Art with Altitude will be held from 9am-4pm at Mount Glorious Community Hall, located at 1874 Mount Glorious Rd, Mount Glorious.
