Grace in medals at open water titles

Grace Swimming Club came home with gold, silver and bronze medals from the Brisbane Open Water Championships at Coolum.
Of the Rothwell club’s 20 swimmers, Alia Shaw led the way with a gold medal in the Women’s 13 Years 5km event clocking 1 hour 11minutes 7 seconds.
In cold conditions, she also won silver in the Grace A Mixed Relay team, alongside Samuel Baker, Max Cunningham and Olivia Smith, with 1 hour 4 minutes 29.09 seconds.
There were bronze medals for Lily Smith in the 17 Years 5km in 1 hour 9 minutes 15.13 seconds and Maddison-Rose Coulson in the Year 16s race with 1:23:27.1.
Josh Mandryk won bronze medal after stopping the clock at 1:15:14.01 in the 13 Years 5km, as did Ben Jimmieson in the 25 Years race with 1:07:47.7.
There were top 10 finishes for Max Cunningham who was fifth in the 13 Years 5km in 1:17:14.32 and Samuel Baker, seventh in the 14 Years race with 1:14:36.7.
Also Sebastian Barber in the 11 Years 1.25km event with ninth place in 20 minutes 29.85 seconds and Henry Smith taking eighth in the 12 Years race in 20:58.28.
In the 13 Years 5km, Elailah Rodd was fifth in 1:17:59.95, Soha Foroush seventh in 1:21:25 and Olivia Smith eighth with 1:16:42.48.
