Work will start next month on a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Anzac Ave, in Redcliffe.

Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will install the crossing on Anzac Ave, between Percy and Gomersall Sts, near the Blue Care Aged Care facility.

Pedestrians current have to cross two lanes of traffic on Anzac Ave, in both directions, to get to the local retail precinct and nearby bus stops.

Construction should start mid-September and is expected to take about two months, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Work will be carried out at night to reduce impacts to nearby businesses and road users.

Joint Australian and Queensland Government funding of $1.3 million has been allocated for the project, as part of the 2023-2025 Road Safety Program.

“Currently there is a risk for vulnerable road users, including school-aged children and the elderly, who have to cross Anzac Avenue at an un-signalled pedestrian crossing,” TMR Deputy Regional Director, North Coast Region, Mr Justin Valks said.

“The new signalised pedestrian crossing will provide safer access to the local businesses and nearby bus stops.

"I thank the community and road users for their patience while TMR delivers these works."
