Peninsula Private Hospital has officially opened its new operating theatre complex as part of its multi-stage redevelopment aimed at expanding healthcare services for the growing North Brisbane community.
The theatre complex was opened by State Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley on September 25.
The redevelopment includes four new operating theatres, anesthetic rooms, three-stage post-anaesthetic care recovery unit and a central sterilising services department (CSSD) and refurbishment to create more single-bed patient rooms in the medical ward.
A new Day Surgery Unit (DSU) five-bed High Dependency unit (HDU) and other facilities are expected to be completed by February 2026, which will include a reception area, discharge lounge, day treatment areas, new staff amenities and a courtyard.
Peninsula Private Hospital General Manager and Director of Nursing Michele Gardner says: “This is a significant milestone for our hospital and the entire Redcliffe community”.
“The new facilities will allow us to care for more patients, more efficiently, in an environment that supports comfort, privacy and recovery.”
The complex has technologies that will allow Peninsula Private Hospital to increase the volume of surgeries across key specialties including orthopedics, urology and general surgery.
Healthscope Queensland Manager Matt Tallis says: “This project strengthens our ability to meet community needs while continuing to deliver the high standards of care Healthscope is known for”.
“We’re proud to support the Peninsula team in delivering this next chapter of exceptional service to their community.”
The redevelopment is expected to be completed early in 2026.
Peninsula Private Hospital is a 60-bed facility, offering medical, surgical and rehabilitation services to the Redcliffe Peninsula community for more than four decades.
