New primary school planned for Caboolture West

A new primary school planned for Caboolture West will ultimately cater for more than 1000 students.

Construction of the school, which was announced as part of this year’s State Budget, is expected to start in 2023.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education says it will open in time for the start of Term 1, 2025.

“The state school will cater for Prep to Year 6 students and will increase capacity in the local schooling network and provide enrolment relief to surrounding schools,” the spokesperson says.

“Early planning is being undertaken for the new school, and site investigations and the process of land acquisition has commenced."

The Department would not reveal where the school could be built.

Staged development

“The school will be built in two stages and upon completion will accommodate an enrolment capacity of approximately 1100 students.”

The Department expects a design contract to be awarded next year, with construction starting in time for the school opening in 2025.

The new state school for Caboolture West is one of five new schools committed to in the 2022-23 Queensland Budget, with a total cost of $390 million.

“The individual budget for the planned primary school at Caboolture West is subject to detailed design and contract award,” the spokesperson says.

“The Department of Education actively monitors schools experiencing enrolment growth and works with school communities to ensure that infrastructure needs are met.

“This includes monitoring school capacity and enrolment data, as well as projected enrolment growth across the short, medium and long term to ensure future growth needs are planned for.”
