New signing boost for Dolphins NRL debut

The Dolphins continue to develop their roster for their National Rugby League (NRL) competition debut with the signing of Bulldogs’ hooker Jeremy Marshall-King.

Marshall-King has signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins that will see him link for the first time with the greatest grand final-winning coach of all time, Wayne Bennett.

Bennett knows the family traits well after coaching Marshall-King's brother Benji Marshall at both the Broncos and Rabbitohs.

Welcome boost

Marshall-King will add significantly to the Dolphins’ dummy-half stocks for next year, with 88 matches of NRL experience to his name.

He is a consistent performer who made his debut for the Tigers before switching to the Bulldogs in 2018.

The 26-year-old has played in every match for the Bulldogs this season and also provides the ability to play in the halves.

Versatile

Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said Marshall-King was another important addition to the squad for the club’s debut season.

“Jeremy is a crafty player who will give us some significant experience at some very important positions on the field,” said Reader.

“He is an accomplished dummy half and has also shown he can play in the halves in the NRL - and players with that skill set are hard to find.

Competition

“With Jeremy and young Queensland Cup star Harrison Graham in our squad already for 2023, we are building some good options and providing some competition for our number nine jersey.”

Marshall-King made his NRL debut for the Wests Tigers in 2017 before moving to the Bulldogs the following year.

He has represented his home country of New Zealand at the World Nines tournament, and last year played alongside brother Benji for the Maori All Stars.
