North Lakes Lions are preparing for the first of our 2023 projects – which start on Saturday (March 11) with the annual Trivia Night.
This will be held at North Lakes Community Centre, 6pm for a 6.45pm start, with the theme of A Night at the Oscars.
Tickets are $25. Tables of eight or single tickets are available at www.trybooking.com/CEPLM.
This is our premier fund-raising event, so please make up tables of 8 and buy tickets quickly to avoid disappointment.

Helping hand
Queensland Farmers have been in the news for some years, especially about their struggle with fire, flood and suicide.
Local bush poet Mick Martin and his mates are trying to help with two projects.
First, through the suicide prevention charity Are You Bogged Mate, which raises awareness by starting conversations around depression and suicide rates amongst men in rural areas.
The second is where Mick co-ordinates his tradie mates who carefully dismantle kitchens from renovation jobs, then transport and install them in farmers’ houses which can use them.
Our club has made a sizeable donation to Mick and Are You Bogged Mate, along with another cheque to Karen Johns, from DARE Formal Wear at Strathpine.
Domestic Abuse Recovery Education (DARE) and is a not-for-profit charity offering care and support to survivors and their families after leaving a violent and/or abusive relationship.
DARE supports women by linking them to community services and raises funds through the sale of donated formal and wedding wear.

Lions at work
Several weeks ago, we were made aware of two North Lakes residents needing help to put up a backyard shed.
Three of our handy Lions took up the challenge, and four hours later she was up and standing firm. Well done fellas, especially seeing it was about 40 degrees in the shade!
Become a member
You can join North Lakes Lions Club by calling our Membership officer Lion Greg on 0422 422 710. Greg will answer any questions and invite you to a dinner meeting.
You’ll experience our “many hands make light work ethic” and new residents can make friends, and help others with your personal skill set.
Until next time
Lion Chris
