After more than a year in planning and construction, the new Sunshine Mitre 10 North Lakes store will throw open its doors this weekend and welcome the community.
The grand opening party at the Stapylton Street store on Saturday, November 12 will include free family fun such as a sausage sizzle, snow cones, fairy floss and face painting, a Hark smoker demonstration and taste testing, a visit from the Dulux dog, giveaways and supplier demonstrations as well as some great grand opening specials.
Sunshine Mitre 10 General Manager Neil Hutchins says the new store will complement others in the Mitre 10 network in South East Queensland.
|“As the population continues to grow rapidly, there is increasing and consistent demand for building supplies and construction materials,” Mr Hutchins says.|
He says the new store is ideally positioned, close to the Bruce Highway, to service the local area as well as greater Brisbane.
The North Lakes site is 6500sqm, with more than 3000sqm under roof.
It features dedicated departments including building and hardware, homewares, lighting and electrical, hand and power tools, kitchen, painting and decorating, outdoor living, a large garden centre, appliances and plumbing as well as the dedicated trade products and services and the well-managed trade drive-through experience Mitre 10 is known for.
Opening on schedule
Construction of the new store began in March 2022, with plans approved by Moreton Bay Regional Council in December 2021. Even with the heavy rainfall during the build, the opening is on schedule.
“It’s a credit to our construction team and representative of the industry and the resilience of builders and tradesmen throughout the construction industry, who have been facing such huge challenges not only from the weather, but from supply chain issues and cost increases,” Mr Hutchins says.
The North Lakes store has employed more than 30 staff and will cater to the strong and increasing demand from the building and trade sector in the area.
Mr Hutchins says more than 25,000 people call North Lakes home, with the population predicted to grow by approximately 30 percent in the next decade, so the demand to service both trade and DIY customers is strong.
“With the addition of another Mitre 10 to the Brisbane network, we are working to keep independently operated hardware strong. By working together, we can provide the best service and offer for DIY and trade customers,” he says.
|“This new store will include all the latest brands and products and showcase the best hardware product available. The site will have everything you need to get in, get out, and get on with it.”|
The Sunshine Mitre 10 North Lakes store grand opening will start from 7am, with family fun activities available from 8am-noon. The Dulux dog visit is from 10-noon. Grand opening specials are strictly while stocks last.
