Parks' $1.8m upgrade plan

A popular Moreton Bay park is to get a $1.8 million upgrade with a new all-ages pump track and playground revamp.

Work will start early next year at Ambrose Tilney Park in Woodford and - weather permitting – will finish by the end of 2025.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the revamp was to meet the needs of Woodford’s growing population, especially young families.

“We want to ensure the area has the necessary infrastructure to cater to the needs of the community in our city now and in the future,” he said

“The upgrades will turn Ambrose Tilney Park into a district level park with an exciting new pump track for all ages and skill levels.

“The upgrade will also expand the existing playground with new equipment and public amenities.”

Adventure playground

Cr Tony Latter (Div 12) said: “We’re also creating a new adventure playground, large play tower and slide, swing and accessible spinner and tactile boards.

“We’re also adding shade structures, a new public amenities block, picnic shelters, a barbecue facility and of course, the pump track.

“The pump track will offer a safe, all-ages space where riders can build confidence and enjoy learning to ride their scooters and bikes at their own pace.

“We’ve seen the popularity of other pump tracks in Samford and Kallangur, so we know the heart of Woodford will be the perfect spot for the next one.”

Access to some parts of the park will be impacted during construction but Council will work with the contractor to minimise disruption wherever possible.
